Cruz del Carmen Viewpoint

hund

Hello traveler! I'm your "Local Insider" from Canaguia.com, and today I'm bringing you one of my absolute favorite spots on the entire island. Forget the sunny southern beaches for a moment; I'm taking you to the green heart of North Tenerife. If you're looking to feel the authentic magic of our nature, Mirador Cruz del Carmen is a mandatory stop. It is, quite literally, the gateway to a prehistoric world.

Why Mirador Cruz del Carmen is a Must-Visit

Located at an altitude of about 1000 meters, Mirador Cruz del Carmen is not just a vantage point; it's the transition between the city and an enchanted forest. From here, on a clear day, the views are spectacular: the valley of La Laguna stretches out at your feet, and in the background, the majestic Mount Teide watches over the island.

But the truly special part begins when you turn around. You are surrounded by the Anaga Rural Park, one of the few remaining laurisilva forests in the world. The air here is different, smelling of damp earth and moss. Often, a soft mist (which we locals call "horizontal rain") envelops the trees, creating a fairytale atmosphere.

Tips from Your Local Insider

As a true local, I'll give you the tricks to enjoy this place to the fullest without the typical tourist hassles:

  • Arrive early: The parking lot at the viewpoint is small and fills up very fast, especially on weekends. If you arrive before 10:00 AM, you'll park stress-free.
  • Bring a jacket!: Even if it's sunny down by the coast, the climate changes drastically up here. It is almost always chilly and damp. Don't come up wearing just flip-flops and a t-shirt!
  • The Path of the Senses: Right next to the viewpoint begins this trail (Sendero de los Sentidos). It's very easy, perfect for families, and instantly immerses you in the laurisilva forest. You must do it!

Visiting Mirador Cruz del Carmen means connecting with the purest and wildest essence of Tenerife. Don't miss it!
